Special features Newbuild project for four buildings. The tenant is Daimler Chrysler AG, which uses the facilities to accommodate a technology and development centre for automobiles.
Description of the facility The Smart development centre in Böblingen, Swabia, is a successful mix of old and new buildings at an existing industrial location near the group parent Daimler-Chrysler. In this construction project, BREMER flat slabs were used for the first time with a smooth soffit. This permitted a column-free structure with a 14 m span. The Smart development centre consists of a total of 12 buildings, eight of which have merely been modernised. The four new buildings are: Building 2, which accommodates the Smart customer service centre with sales area and workshop, Building 3, where the offices of the administration are located along with the attractively designed restaurant, and Buildings 6 and 10 – the heart of the development centre – where new Smart prototypes are developed. The entire project was realised by BREMER as a turnkey package with the exception of the outdoor facilities.
